The Galveston Independent School District Board of Trustees on Wednesday voted unanimously to cancel the district's November 8 Trustee Election due to unopposed candidates in the two positions expiring this year.
Matthew Hay will take District 5-E in November after filing unopposed for the race. Hay will take over from Andy Mytelka, who did not file for re-election.
In District 6-F, Beau Rawlins filed for another term and is unopposed for re-election as well.
The school board voted to nominate Victor Pierson for re-election to the Galveston Central Appraisal District Board of Directors.
The school board voted to submit a waiver for maximum class size to the Texas Education Agency for classes at the Early Childhood University, Oppe Elementary and Parker Elementary.
The school board voted to approve a contract with Kathy Curran for consulting services associated with the Texas Title I Priority School grant.
All items were approved. All votes were unanimousy with Mytelka absent from the meeting. Agenda
