HISD Sets Another TBEC Honor Roll Record
Twenty-four District Schools Make the 2011 List
Two dozen HISD schools cracked the 2011 list of Texas Honor Roll Schools issued by the Texas Business and Education Coalition on Friday.
This is a new record for the district, which landed 22 schools on the list a year ago, 21 in 2009, 18 in 2008, and 16 in 2007.
The TBEC Honor Roll recognizes schools that have demonstrated three years of consistent high performance in all subjects on the Texas Assessment of Knowledge and Skills (TAKS) compared with other schools serving similar student populations. The TBEC Honor Roll schools have the highest percentage of students performing at the state's most rigorous standard, "commended" performance, in every subject.
More than 8 percent of HISD campuses earned the honor this year, compared to less than 4 percent of the 8,000-plus public schools in Texas.
