Staff, Community Encouraged to Attend Superintendent's “Community Conversations”
Board President Paula Harris interviews HISD Superintendent Terry Grier during her monthly show and talks to HISD world travelers
Who: The October edition of HISD Board President Paula Harris' Student Achievement Show will feature an interview with HISD Superintendent Terry Grier who will discuss his upcoming Community Conversations which give students, parents, staff, and the Houston community a chance to pose their comments and questions directly to the Superintendent. The October show also features an interview with HISD teachers who participated in the Fund for Teachers program this summer, traveling around the world to increase their teaching skills; and students from the Houston Academy for International Studies who will share the experiences they had while studying abroad this summer.

Why: HISD Board President Paula Harris is committed to showcasing the academic achievements of HISD students and highlighting the many district wide initiatives that are aimed at boosting student achievement and preparing students to be prepared for college and a career once they graduate from high school. An executive with an engineering background working for an oilfield service company, Harris is particularly interested in getting students excited about math and science at an early age. Her “Student Achievement Show” airs monthly with a new topic and guests from HISD schools including students, teachers, and principals.
