Elementary and Primary Education
Dickinson ISD Board of Trustees
by Garrett Bryce
Tuesday, October 04, 2011

The Dickinson Independent School District Board of Trustees on Monday voted unanimously to approve the submission of class size waivers to the Texas Education Agency for classes that will exceed 22 students per teacher.

The classes requiring waivers are all in Kindergarten through fourth grade levels, and total 47 classes.  None of the classes will exceed 25 students per teacher.

The school board voted unanimously to approve a resolution to tax tangible personal property in transit pursuant to the Texas Tax Code.  A public hearing was held prior to adoption of the resolution.  There were no comments from the public during the hearing.

The school board discussed, but took no action regarding options for the former Educational Support Center site.  The air conditioning unit at the building has broken down and requires replacement.  The school board will discuss the item further at the October 17 workshop.

The school board voted unanimously to approve changes to Board Policy BE with respect to board meetings.  The amendments to the policy change the order of meetings to hold an executive session at the beginning of the meeting, rather than the end.

The school board voted unanimously to approve personnel recommendations as discussed during an executive session.

All other items were approved by unanimous vote.  All members were present.  Agenda
