San Jacinto College commemorates Golden Anniversary with giant human ‘50’ photo

PHOTO CUTLINE – Nearly 800 San Jacinto College students, employees, administrators, and Board of Trustees members gathered Tuesday afternoon, Oct. 4, 2011, to form a giant “50” on the Central Campus track to commemorate the College’s 50th anniversary. San Jacinto College officially kicked off its Golden Anniversary celebration on Sept. 19, 50 years after first opening its doors to 876 students at a renovated store front in Pasadena.
Today, San Jacinto College, an Achieving the Dream Leader College, is committed to the goals and aspirations of a diverse population of 30,000 students in over 140 degree and certificate options, including university transfer and career preparation. Students also benefit from the College’s job training programs, renowned for meeting the needs of growing industries in the region.
