Public Safety News
North Forest Independent School District
News Release
Friday, October 07, 2011

Update: The Harris County District's Office has accepted charges against two North Forest High School students for brining a gun to school.

The North Forest ISD is seeking charges against the students involved with a gun on campus of North Forest High School today.  The Harris County District Attorney has accepted a charge of bringing an illegal weapon to a school against the student who brought the gun to the campus.

Both students are being expelled to the Juvenile Justice Alternative Education Program.

Earlier in the day, the district reported that a lockdown had occurred, but no gun had been found.

Previous Report: North Forest High School was placed on lockdown approximately 11 a.m. today when a student reported that a fellow student had brought a gun to campus.

The administration immediately put the school into lockdown as a precaution.  However, an investigation has determined that no gun was ever brought onto campus.  The shelter in place has been lifted and classes are resuming.  School officials place the safety of their students as their highest priority and acted from an abundance of caution when the initial report was made.
