THREE CCISD SCHOOLS HONORED FOR ACADEMIC EXCELLENCE
League City – The Clear Creek Independent School District is proud to announce three schools have been selected for the most prestigious award for sustained, academic excellence in Texas. Clear Horizons Early College High School, Space Center Intermediate and Westbrook Intermediate will be honored in December by the Texas Business and Education Coalition (TBEC).
The TBEC 2011 Honor Roll recognizes schools that have demonstrated three years of consistent, high performance in all subjects compared to other schools serving similar student populations. TBEC Honor Roll schools have the highest percentage of students performing at the state’s most rigorous standard -commended- in every subject. And, in this the last year of TAKS, the standards are the most demanding TBEC has ever had.
“While all of our campuses strive for academic excellence, it is with great pride I recognize these three campuses for the great job they have done,” said Superintendent of Schools Greg Smith, Ph. D., “There are more than 8,000 public schools in Texas and only 253 schools made the TBEC Honor Roll, that’s less than four percent.”
The 2011 Honor Roll includes 34 high schools, 38 middle schools and 181 elementary schools from across the state. In analyzing every public school in Texas TBEC considers only the school’s commended performance, the state’s highest standard for academic achievement and sets specific targets for schools based on grades served and student demographics.
“Westbrook Intermediate, Space Center Intermediate and Clear Horizons College High School have truly earned a spot on our Honor Roll through hard work and student achievement over an extended period of time,” said Ken Zornes, TBEC Executive Director.
