Tuesday, October 11, 2011

The Friendswood Independent School District Board of Trustees on Monday voted unanimously to approve the construction of an addition to the district’s agricultural barn.

“In the past four years, the number of Agricultural Science students has quadrupled,” Superintendent Trish Hanks said.  “This program is one of the fastest growing programs at Friendswood High School.”

The project will provide an additional 3,000 square foot to the currently 6,000 square foot building.  The board also approved $15,000 for the purchase of security cameras at the facility.

The school board voted unanimously to nominate Gary Jones, David Moss, Victor Pierson, Walt Syers and Emery Williams, II for re-election to the Galveston Central Appraisal District Board of Directors.

The school board voted unanimously to schedule a workshop for November 2 to discuss various topics, including the entrance to Westwood Elementary, open projects, and administration building utilization.

The school board voted 5-0-1, with Ralph Hobratschk abstaining, to approve the minutes of the September 12 and September 26 meetings.

The school board met in executive session to discuss personnel matters, but took no action.

All other items were approved by unanimous vote.  Trustee Mike Shaw was absent.  Agenda
