Wednesday, October 12, 2011

Charges have been filed against a woman arrested in the death of a child found unresponsive at 7550 Plum Creek about 2:50 p.m. on Oct. 4.

Emma Cardona (H/f, DOB: 1/3/92) is charged with injury to a child in the 232nd State District Court.  She is accused in the death of her two-year-old daughter, Alessay Andrade, who was transported to St. Joseph Hospital and later died.   A photo of suspect Cardona is attached to this news release.

HPD Homicide Division Senior Police Officers M. Condon and S. Anderson reported:

The child became unresponsive at her residence on 7550 Plum Creek and was transported to the hospital by HFD emergency personnel.  A preliminary investigation determined the child had suffered bruising to her body.

An autopsy by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences indicated the victim suffered head trauma.  Last Friday (Oct. 7), Cardona was arrested without incident and charged.
