Mildred McLendon, 79, of Galveston passed away peacefully October 13, 2011 at her home. Although she had only four biological children of her own, she was mom to all of her children’s friends. She enjoyed crocheting, was a music fan of Country to classic rock, and always made Easter a special holiday for her family. Mildred had strong feelings about things and never hesitated to let you know them. People knew they could always get an honest opinion from her.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Pollard (Commie) McLendon, Sr.; husband, Samuel I. Corujo; husband, Raymond Gordon; son, Anthony Corujo; and her granddaughter, Jennifer Purkiss. She is survived by her son, P. M. (Mickey) McLendon, Jr.; daughters, Peggy Gordon and Susan Wright and husband, William; sister, LaVerne Lovell; grandchildren, Kyle and Paul Martin, Sarah Griffith, and Victoria and Jesse Ferguson; her Chihuahua dog, Miss Peggy; and numerous friends and relatives.
Mildred did not want a formal service. She is being cremated and will be laid to rest next to her husband, Commie.
