The Santa Fe Independent School District Board of Trustees on Monday voted unanimously to participate in litigation against the State of Texas regarding school funding.
The item was discussed by the board during an executive session. The suit is being filed by the Texas Taxpayer and Student Fairness Coalition regarding the current school finance system.
The school board voted unanimously to approve a resolution to tax goods in transit. The approval was required by the state’s tax code in order for the district to continue taxation of goods in transit.
The school board voted unanimously to submit a class size waiver for a first grade class in the 2011-2012 school year. Waivers are required if a class is to exceed 22 students per teacher.
The school board voted unanimously to approve the sale of portable buildings. The school district is selling two portable buildings, one which was located at the Cowan building, the other at Kubacek Elementary. The buildings will be sold to Cherry Moving for $510.
