Naida Merle Jensen

Naida Merle Jensen, 79, of Galveston passed away peacefully at her residence on October 15, 2011.  She was born on August 3, 1932 in New Orleans, Louisiana.  Naida graduated from Dominican High School in 1948 and attended Galveston Community College.  Her life was her loving husband, her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.   She was a caretaker in the home health industry for many years.


Naida was predeceased by her parents, Thomas H. and Florence C. Newman, and grandson, George Leo Lauzon, III.  She is survived by her husband, Paul Carl Jensen, of 61 years; daughters, Jackie Barmore and husband, Bill, of Pasadena, Texas; Kathy Jensen of Hutto, Texas; and Peggy Barmore and husband, Jim, of Houston, Texas; sons, Duke Jensen and wife, Barb, of Carlsbad, California; Tom Jensen and Deb Campbell, of Cortez, Colorado; Mike Jensen and wife, Antoinette, of Galveston, Texas; and John Jensen and wife, Michelle, of Edmund, Oklahoma; grandchildren, Jason Skaer and wife, Suzanne; Oscar Paul Skaer; Melissa Lauzon; and Anthony, Erin, Joseph, David, Connor, and Isabella Jensen; great-grandchildren, James Carlisle and Jude Michael Skaer. 


Naida’s family will receive visitors from 5:30 to 7:00 pm on Thursday, October 20, at Malloy & Son Funeral Home, with a Rosary Service beginning at 7:00 pm.  The Funeral Service will be at 1:00 pm on Friday, October 21, at Malloy & Son Funeral Home, with Pastor Jason Skaer officiating.  Burial will follow the service at Calvary Cemetery, with Father John Paul Flajole, OFM, officiating.


Memorials may be made to the Galveston Family YMCA, 3920 Avenue L, Galveston, Texas 77550, the Muscular Sclerosis Society, or another charity of your choice.


The family would like to extend a special thanks to the staff of A-MED Services, especially Margie and Ranay.
