MULTIPLE WEEKEND CLOSURES SCHEDULED FOR IH 10 KATY/ SH 99 INTERCHANGE
“Crews Are Continuing the Installation of Steel Bridge Girders for Future Direct Connectors”
Houston – Total closures of both the westbound and eastbound mainlanes of IH 10 Katy Freeway at SH 99 are scheduled to take place over the weekend. The closures are necessary for the roadway contractor to hang steel bridge girders for the IH 10/SH 99 interchange. Motorists should expect delays and should consider an alternate route if possible.
· A 24-hour total closure of the eastbound mainlanes of IH 10 Katy Freeway from Mason Road to Katy Fort Bend County Road is scheduled to take place beginning Friday, October 21 at 9 p.m. to Saturday, October 22 at 9 p.m. All IH 10 eastbound traffic will be detoured onto the IH 10 eastbound frontage road at the exit ramp for SH 99 and will re-enter IH 10 eastbound mainlanes after the signal via the next entrance ramp. Mason Road eastbound entrance ramp will also be closed.
· Also, IH 10 Katy Freeway westbound from Mason Road to Katy Fort Bend Road will be totally closed from Saturday, October 22 at 11 a.m. to Monday, October 5 at 5 a.m. All IH 10 westbound traffic will be detoured onto the IH 10 eastbound frontage road at the exit ramp for SH 99 and will re-enter IH 10 eastbound mainlanes after the signal via the next entrance ramp. Mason Road westbound entrance ramp will also be closed.
Crews are completing construction of the $30 million project to construct the IH 10 Westbound to SH 99 Southbound and SH 99 Northbound to IH 10 Eastbound direct connectors. This project is slated for completion by January 2012.
