“City Council extended the deadline for making the formal award until the end of November,” Carrara said, noting that the port had outbid Mitchell Historic Properties which wanted the garage as part of the Downtown Transit Terminal complex. “One of the meetings in November they will probably make that award, still with the idea that that garage will be linked to the garage on the top of the terminal.”
Carrara also updated the committee on the award of $2 million for the Seawall enhancement project under the FTA Bus Livability Program.
“When earmarks went away from Congress they still had discretionary money,” Carrara answered when questioned about the new funding source. “So the Department of Transportation gives those away now through competitive programs.”
