Elsia Antwine Lyons

Elsia Antwine LyonsElsia Antwine Lyons was born in Opelousas, LA, on March 10, 1921. She worked for a number of years at the O’Connell High School where she developed and maintained friendships along the way. She was a devoted member of Jerusalem Baptist Church and was involved in several auxiliaries and served on many committees, last of which being the Baptizing Committee.

On October 20, 2011, the Lord opened his arms and called his child home. 

Elsia preceded in death by her husband, Rufus Lyons, parents, five siblings, and two daughters.

She is survived by her daughters: Florence Clark, Shirley Elder, Diane Lyons, and Mary Ann Lyons; two sisters: Lois Blue and Ardenia Morgan; eleven grandchildren, nineteen great-grandchildren, three great-great grandchildren: host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Visitation will be held Friday, October 28th, from 3-5PM at Fields-Johnson and continue at Jerusalem Baptist Church followed by a wake from 7-8PM. A service celebrating her life will begin at 1:00PM, Saturday October 29, 2011, at the church with Pastor A.S. Johnson officiating. Burial will follow at Lakeview Cemetery.
