Babydoll Museum Unveiled at Marilyn! Babydoll Reflects
A comprehensive collection of museum-quality artifacts, memorabilia and personal effects of Marilyn Monroe
HOUSTON, TX – Babydoll Museum, Inc. is a museum-quality exhibit featuring a comprehensive array of Marilyn’s personal artifacts that travels with each performance of Marilyn! Babydoll Reflects, presented by Music Doing Good. The Babydoll Museum is a 501c3 whose primary purpose is to acquire, maintain and preserve historically significant items and memorabilia related to Marilyn Monroe and the era in which she lived. These items are on display to the public for educational purposes, as well as to enhance the audience experience at the performance. Music Doing Good invites the press to view the collection beginning at 3 pm on Saturday, November 5, 2011 at Ensemble Theatre, 3535 Main Street, Houston, TX 77002.
Some of the items included in the collection are her costumes, her bra, bathing suits, gowns and shoes used in photo shoots and made recognizable in movies such as Gentleman Prefer Blondes and Let’s Make it Legal; Dr. Greenson’s therapist’s couch – the daybed where Marilyn broke down over Clarke Gable’s death; and the chair used in her final photo shoot that still bears her heel hole in the upholstery. There are also paintings, photographs and transparencies from many periods in Marilyn’s life and career. An x-ray of Marilyn and a radiograph of John F Kennedy along with cuttings of the President’s hair are included in the museum collection. Items depicting her marriage with Joe DiMaggio and ‘rat pack’ owned items are also on display, including a painting done by Frank Sinatra, Sammy Davis Jr.’s personalized cigarettes and money clip; and a violin signed by Jack Benny, whom Marilyn adored!
