Lone Star Rally Roars Back onto Galveston Island this Week
Downtown Entertainment Areas Trigger Street Closures

Galveston, Texas – Galveston Island welcomes back the Lone Star Motorcycle Rally later this week.  Celebrating its 10th anniversary, the event boasts Texas-sized contests, concerts, attractions, exhibits, rides, and vendors.  The Rally offers free admission to the public and will open this Thursday, November 3 and run through Sunday, November 6. 

Street Closures:

Rally festivities will be concentrated in Galveston’s historic downtown and adjacent water front.  The event’s entertainment district will trigger extensive street closures.  Please visit the City’s website for a complete listing: http://www.cityofgalveston.org/news/default.cfm?ID=5369

▪           Alternate east/west routes are Market Street and Harborside.

▪           Alternate north/south routes are 19th Street and 25th Street.

Lone Star Rally Schedule of Events:

Unified Command Center:

Operated by the Galveston Police Department, the Unified Command Center will be located downtown to address public safety throughout the Lone Star Rally entertainment district.  Illegal and unsafe conduct will not be tolerated.

RV Parking and Overnight Camping:

Overnight camping is not permitted at any public beach on Galveston Island with the exception of authorized locations.  The term "camping", as defined by the City's code and ordinances, includes any tent, lean-to, sleeping bag, blanket, vehicle, trailer, camper, or other means of shelter. Overnight parking along Seawall is also prohibited.  During the Rally, Apffel Park will be available for overnight camping for self-contained RVs.  For more information please contact the Galveston Island Park Board of Trustees by calling 409-797-5111. Please take note of the following information: Fee: $20.00 per night (cash only); RVs of any type acceptable; no reservations needed, but there are limited spaces available; no hookups are provided; waste water service is available; no open fires are allowed; and glass containers are prohibited.
