Minor traffic accident occurs with GISD bus and truck, no injuries reported

GALVESTON, Texas – A Galveston Independent School District bus was involved in a minor accident with a passenger truck this evening. At approximately 4:40 p.m., the bus carrying  16 students from Austin Middle School struck the back left-end of a pickup truck, causing minimal damage. No one involved in the accident, including students, reported any injuries.

The GISD bus prepared to leave Austin Middle School after loading students, heading eastbound on 15th Street near the intersection of Avenue N 1/2. The pick-up truck was parked on 15th Street. The bus tried to maneuver around the parked pickup truck and clipped the backend of the vehicle, according to Galveston ISD Chief of Police Leeroy Amador.

Emergency medical services were not contacted after no one reported any injuries. The bus was allowed to continue to dropping off students after an investigation that lasted approximately 45 minutes.
