Celebration of Service American Legion Hall Volunteer Project
November 3rd, 2011
The Lone Star Veterans Association in partnership with the Home Depot Foundation and The Mission Continues is hosting a Celebration of Service at the American Legion Post #416 at 1216 W. Clay, Houston, TX 77019 on Thursday, November 3rd, from 7:00 am to 5:00 pm.
We will have over 300 volunteers on site, with Home Depot contractors that will be remodeling this veterans hall. We will be doing landscaping, painting, installing a new kitchen, upgrading the ball and Main Hall, and cleaning up the facility.
The American Legion Post #416 is one of the older posts in Houston that serves a wide variety of veterans and people. Besides the traditional American Legion activities, there is a computer lab and career workshops for veterans, Community Emergency Response Team training, Transitional Assistance Program to educate military members about their benefits upon leaving the service, and more.
This one day project is part of a nationwide effort with the Home Depot Foundation and The Mission Continues to assist veterans in their transition back to their communities and their families.
You can contact Brian Wilson at Brian@LoneStarVeterans.org or on cell 832-341-6830 if you have any questions about the day of the event. There will be a presentation ceremony at 2:00 from the City of Houston and Texas State Representative Sarah Davis.
