Friendswood ISD Board of Trustees
by Garrett Bryce
Thursday, November 03, 2011

The Friendswood Independent School District Board of Trustees, in a special meeting on Wednesday, voted unanimously to sanction the teaching certificate of a former teacher who abandoned her contract.

“In late September a teacher under contract notified the principal that she did not wish to complete the year, even though she was under contract,” Suprintendent Trish Hanks said. “The superintendent notified the teacher that she would release her at the end of the semester or whenever a suitable replacement was found, whichever was sooner.  The teacher refused to work with the district and October 14 was her last day.”

Under the sanction the teacher's certificate will not be valid for one year. The item was discussed in executive session prior to the vote.

During the meeting, the school board held a workshop to discuss future bond projects, including Westwood Elementary, maintenance projects, and utilization of the administration building. No action was taken during the workshop.

No other items were on the agenda. All members were present.  Agenda
