Traffic Advisory: West Seawall Repaving Project Starts Monday
TxDOT to Repave Seawall 61st Street to FM 3005; Lane Closures Expected
Galveston, Texas – The Texas Department of Transportation will begin repaving Seawall Boulevard, 61st Street west to FM 3005, on Monday, November 7.
Crews will begin by milling the existing roadway and then repairing the base road. Initially much of the work will be completed at night, 9:00PM to 5:00AM, to minimize the impact to drivers. This phase of the project is estimated to take two and a half weeks.
Next, crews will install a new asphaltic concrete surface and apply temporary pavement markings. Alternating daytime, 8:00AM to 4:00PM, traffic lane closures are expected. Officials estimate it will take two to three weeks to complete this phase of the project.
Drivers should use caution while traveling in the construction area. At least one eastbound and one westbound traffic lane will remain open throughout the duration of the project. The estimated timetable for construction is weather dependent.
The Texas Department of Transportation awarded this project to Angel Brothers Enterprises Ltd. for a bid price of $1,274,439.
