Texas A&M University System Board of Regents

The Texas A&M University System Board of Regents today designated 19 professors and administrators within the A&M System as Regents Professor or Regents Fellow for 2010-11.

TAMUS Chancellor John Sharp announced that Dr. Stanton C. Calvert, current vice chancellor for governmental relations for the A&M System, has been granted the title of vice chancellor emeritus.  Listen: MP3 RealPlayer

Sharp also announced the appointment of two new vice chancellors. News Release

TAMUS Chair Richard Box, welcomed Sharp to his first meeting and had special praise for the “heroic efforts of the A&M System’s Texas Forest Service” for its work on the recent wildfire outbreak. Listen: MP3 RealPlayer

Sharp said that he has gained respect for the complexity of the TAMU System since becoming chancellor. Listen: MP3 RealPlayer

“If I as an Aggie, and as a legislator that has been working with this system for so long was as ignorant as I was about the amazing things that happen in this place, imagine what the public must not know,” Sharp said.   

The board voted to formally name a classroom on the first floor of the new Agriculture and Life Sciences Building on the College Station campus the “Mary Ruth Patranella Classroom” and to formally name the gazebo on the south side of the Horticulture/Forest Science Building the “Captain Sean Lyerly ’00 Gazebo.”  TAMU President Dr. Bowen Loftin made the presentation.

The board voted to appoint L.C. “Chaz” Neely, Jr., Dennis Murphree and Greg Binion to the Texas A&M University at Galveston Board of Visitors.

All other agenda items were approved.  All votes were unanimous.
