San Jacinto College students and faculty share their literary favorites at 2011 Get Lit!

PASADENA, Texas — The language arts department at San Jacinto College (SJC) Central recently held its sixth annual Get Lit! event. Festivities included food, games, and a variety of literature samples from the language department, the speech department, the developmental education faculty, the Honors program, and the art department.

Guest speakers, such as Dr. Barbara Hanson, SJC Central Campus vice president for learning, also participated in reading their favorite pieces of literary work. The language arts department sponsors the event each year to promote literature as a living art and raise awareness for sophomore literature courses and other English programs, like the Chrysalis literary journal, the Writing Center, and the Grammar Club.
