Lamar CISD receives Gold Performance Acknowledgements from education agency
The Texas Education Agency awarded Lamar CISD a Gold Performance Acknowledgement for College Ready Graduates based on test scores for the Class of 2010. Foster and Terry high schools also received the Acknowledgement for their campus scores.
The Gold Performance Acknowledgement system recognizes districts and campuses for high performance on indicators other than those used to determine accountability ratings. To receive the Acknowledgement for College Ready Graduates, more than 40 percent of the Class of 2010 scored highly on the exit-level TAKS or on one of the two college entrance exams - the ACT or SAT - in both Math and English/Language Arts.
For the third straight year, the entire District received a GPA for Commended Performance in Social Studies. To receive this designation, at least 30 percent of the students in the District taking the Social Studies portion of the TAKS test scored at the Commended Level, indicating a "thorough understanding of the knowledge and skills at the grade level tested."
Lamar CISD campuses received 89 Gold Performance Acknowledgements (GPA) from the Texas Education Agency for superior academic performance. The District earned 84 GPA in 2010 and 82 in 2009.
Other Gold Performance Acknowledgements for Commended Performance (30 percent or more of students scoring Commended) include:
* Fifteen schools in Reading/English/Language Arts;
* Ten schools in Math;
* Seven schools in Social Studies;
* Ten schools in Writing; and
* Seventeen schools in Science.
Thirteen LCISD schools earned a GPA for Attendance. To qualify for this Acknowledgement an elementary school must have 97 percent attendance, a junior high or middle school must have 96 percent and a high school must have 95 percent.
Eight District schools earned a GPA for Comparable Improvement in Reading. Comparable Improvement is measured by comparing the improvement at a campus compared to 40 other demographically similar schools from across the state. Seven schools earned a GPA for Comparable Improvement in Math.
