UH-Clear Lake celebrates Veterans Day
WHO: UH-Clear Lake administrators, faculty, staff and students welcome veterans from all branches of the service to be a part of the annual Veterans Day Celebration. Attendees include Cpl. Ralph Barkin, U.S. Marine Corp, who served in the. Marine Corps during World War II and Korea, and Cpl. Donny Daughenbaugh, retired, who served in the U.S. Marine Corps during Operation Iraqi Freedom 2.
WHAT: This annual Veterans Day Celebration will include music, a special program and more. UH-Clear Lake will join more than 145 colleges and universities across the country participating in the Roll Call event – a reading of names of the 6,200-plus casualties of Operation Enduring Freedom and Operation Iraqi Freedom. Names of the fallen will be read starting at 7 a.m. until 10 a.m., when the opening music begins for the event, and resume after the event ends at noon.
WHEN: 7 a.m. – Roll Call begins
10 a.m. – Music by The JuBellaté Ringers Handbell Ensemble from League City United Methodist Church, as well as the presentation of colors by the Clear Lake High School Junior ROTC.
10:30 a.m. – Celebration begins.
