Galveston College’s 2011-2012 Lecture Series titled “Ten Years From Now” continues with the second guest speaker Dr. Stephen L. Klineberg, Co-director of the Kinder Institute for Urban Research at Rice University, whose topic is “The Changing Face of the Houston Region: Tracking the Economic and Demographic Transformations Through 30 Years of Houston Surveys.” The lecture begins at 7 p.m. on November 15, 2011 in the Abe and Annie Seibel Wing located at 4015 Avenue Q of the Galveston College campus.

A graduate of Haverford College, with an M.A. from the University of Paris and a Ph.D. from Harvard, Dr. Klineberg is a Professor of Sociology at Rice University. In 1982, he and his students initiated the annual "Houston Area Survey,” now in its 30th year of tracking the remarkable changes in the demographic patterns, economic outlooks, experiences, and beliefs of Harris County residents. The recipient of twelve prestigious teaching awards, including the Lifetime Award for Excellence in Teaching and the Piper Professor Award, Klineberg is currently writing a major report on the Houston studies and serving as Co-director of the Kinder Institute for Urban Research at Rice University.
