Congressional Candidate John Gay awarded prestigious Cold War Medal
Kemah, TX - On Saturday, November 5, 2011, Congressional Candidate (TX-14) and Coast Guard Veteran John Gay was awarded the prestigious Cold War Service Medal as part of the Kemah Boardwalk’s Salute to Veterans.
Steve McCurdy, the founder of the Veterans organization Give Them a Medal presented John the medal along with several other Cold War era Veterans.
The medal was created to honor those that served during the often tumultuous period of military one-upmanship between the United States and the Soviet Union known as the Cold War. Although shots were never fired during the Cold War, our brave servicemen and women served the United States faithfully, often under extremely stressful conditions involving weapons of mass destruction, along the hostile borders known as the Iron Curtain, and on the vast oceans around the world.
John was honored to receive such an esteemed award and vows to fight for our nation’s brave fighting men and women when he’s elected to Congress.
