La Marque ISD Board of Trustees

The La Marque Independent School District Board of Trustees on Monday, voted to approve a 30-day suspension, without pay, for Superintendent Ecomet Burley and LMISD Police Chief Timothy Fields.

The vote on the item was taken following an executive session despite the lack of an agenda item specifically referencing Burley or Fields. Members who voted for the action cited an item on the agenda regarding "personnel issues". A tally of the vote is unavailable. The board secretary said she was unable to record the division of the school board on the issue due to it following quickly after the executive session.

The school board discussed, but took no action regarding a demand letter from former LMISD Police Chief Russell Washington.  The item was discussed during an executive session.

The school board voted to deny a Level III Grievance Continuation.  The item was also discussed during the closed session.

The school board voted to approve plans for revisions to single member district trustee voting district boundaries.  The redistricting plan will alter boundaries to balance voting populations based on data from the 2010 Census.  Redistricting Plan Map

The school board voted to terminate a contract with Edutemps.  Edutemps provides temporary teaching and instructional staff.

The school board voted to table action regarding the district’s compensation manual.

The school board voted to approve an agreement with the Region XI Service Center to provide video streaming resources to the district.

All other items were approved by majority vote.  Trustee David Jones was absent.  Agenda
