Traffic accident between GISD bus and passenger vehicle, four students to John Sealy

Four injuries reported among Early Childhood University/Weis students;
driver of the passenger vehicle and students transported to hospital

 

GALVESTON, Texas – A driver lost control of a passenger vehicle, which then swerved into the lane of a GISD bus this afternoon and struck the back of it. Emergency Medical Services immediately responded to the scene of the accident along with the Galveston Police Department with assistance of Galveston ISD Police. EMS transported four students from Early Childhood University and Weis Middle School as well  as the driver of the passenger vehicle to John Sealy Hospital with minor injuries.

 

The driver of the passenger vehicle lost control going eastbound on Ave. S near 57th Street at approximately 3:20 p.m., with the front driver side of the vehicle clipping the back-right corner panel of the bus heading westbound on Ave. S. There were 25 students on board the GISD bus ranging from ages 4-12. Parents of the injured students were immediately informed upon transportation to the hospital.

 

Students boarded another bus and were transported home following an investigation that lasted approximately 45 minutes. The driver has not been cited with any traffic violations at the time of this release.
