Hitchcock ISD Board of Trustees
by Garrett Bryce
Wednesday, November 16, 2011

The Hitchcock Independent School District Board of Trustees on Tuesday voted unanimously to approve a plan for redistricting of the board’s single member voting districts.

The plan adjusts the boundaries of the districts to balance voting populations based on data from the 2010 Census.  Redistricting Map

The school board voted unanimously to cast the district’s ballots in favor of re-electing Gary Jones to the Galveston Central Appraisal District Board of Directors.

Jones has received 370 votes from Dickinson ISD in the election, which will be combined with Hitchcock ISD’s 74 ballots, giving him 444 votes, currently.  A total of 834 votes is required for a member to be elected to the board.

In addition to Jones, Walt Syers, David Moss, Victor Pierson and Emery Williams, II are on the ballot for re-election.  Also on the ballot are Dan Brightwell, Evelyn Timmins and Clay Morrison.

The school board voted unanimously to approve the fingerprinting of all previously exempt employees within the district.

The school board discussed, but took no action regarding personnel matters discussed during an executive session of the board.

All other items were approved by unanimous vote.  Trustee Shirley Price was absent.  Agenda

The school board will hold a special meeting on November 29.
