The Galveston Intermodal Transportation Committee on Wednesday discussed the latest developments in the planning of a Downtown Intermodal Transportation Terminal as part of the Galveston Livable Communities Initiative.
Consultant John Carrara of The Goodman Corporation reported that Galveston City Council is considering two items following Monday’s special meeting of the Board of Trustees of the Galveston Wharves. Listen: MP3 RealPlayer
“One is to award the sale of the Shearn Moody Parking Garage to the Port of Galveston,” he said. “The second item is to approve a letter of intent between the City of Galveston and the Port of Galveston for the port to take over as the developer of the transit terminal, buying out Mitchell Historic Properties, replacing them in that role since they withdrew from the previous agreement to develop the facility.”
The wharves board will also have the item on the agenda of a meeting to be scheduled next Monday morning.
Also, at the ITC meeting, Dustin Henry of the Galveston Planning Department reviewed the city’s Geographic Information System mapping data available on the city’s website at http://www.cityofgalveston.org.
“Go to the City of Galveston website and click the little yellow button for Online GIS Maps,” he said.
