HPD Homicide Division Officers I. Ulloa and C. Cardenas reported:

Layton and the victim got into an argument, which escalated when Layton pulled a gun and shot the woman multiple times.  Witnesses stated Layton fled the scene and went to a location where he admitted to family members that he shot the woman.  A family member accompanied Layton back to the scene where he was detained by officers and subsequently charged.
