Special elections will have voters in Houston and Pearland casting ballots in December to fill city council positions in both cities.
Houston will host run-off elections on December 10 for four seats on the city council that were not decided by a clear majority on November 8.
In District A, incumbent Brenda Stardig will face a run-off against Helena Brown.
Alvin Byrd and Jerry Davis will compete to see who fills the District B seat, which is currently held by Jarvis Johnson.
In At-Large Position No. 2, Kristi Thibaut and Andrew C. Burks, Jr. will be on the ballot for the run-off. The seat is currently held by Sue Lovell.
At-Large Position No. 5 incumbent Jolanda “Jo” Jones is in a run-off with Jack Christie.
Early voting for Houston begins on November 30 and continues through December 6.
Pearland will hold a special election on December 3 to fill an unexpired term in City Council Position 5.
The position is currently held by Ed Thompson, who is vacating his seat to run for Texas State Representative in District 29.
The race will be between three candidates. Kevin Cole, Greg Hill and Gary Bucek.
Early voting in Pearland begins on Monday, and continues through Wednesday before the polls close for the Thanksgiving Holiday. Early voting then continues on November 28 and ends on November 29.
