City of Pasadena
News Release
Friday, November 18, 2011

This year, the City of Pasadena has created its own 12 Days of Christmas, full of activities and programs to celebrate the holiday season:

Friday, Dec. 2
What: Christmas Tree Lighting
When: 6-9 p.m.
Where: City Hall (1211 Southmore)

Description: Come help us unveil the decorations, turn on the lights, and kick off the Christmas season at our annual Christmas Tree Lighting event! This event is free and features plenty of entertainment and fun for the whole family. We’ll light up our huge, outdoor Christmas tree and unveil a series of painted scenes. Be sure to bring your camera because many of the scenes have cutouts for your face, so they make great Christmas card  pictures. This event will also include appearances by Santa & Mrs. Claus, performances by local choirs, bands and dance groups, tours of our Circle of Trees, hayrides, games, crafts and refreshments, to name just a few.

Saturday, Dec. 3
What: Open House
When: 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Where: Heritage Park Museum (204 South Main)

Description: The Pasadena Historical Society and the City of Pasadena have teamed up for a Christmas Open House at the museum. Celebrate the holiday season and take a step back in time at this event. All of our historical homes on the property will be adorned with Christmas lights and festive decorations. There will also be refreshments. This event is free and is open to everyone in the community.

Friday, Dec. 9
What: Christmas Open House and Dance
When: 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Where: Madison Jobe Senior Center (1700 E. Thomas)

Description: Seniors, join us for a time of festivity, food and fun! The Madison Jobe Senior Center will host a Christmas Open House and Dance, and everyone is invited. This free event is a great way to socialize, enjoy some refreshments, learn more about the Center and share the Christmas spirit. And grab your dancing shoes because there will also be music by the band “Country Now and Then” and plenty of dancing.

Tuesday, Dec. 6
What: Holiday mixer and Circle of Trees award ceremony
When: 4:30-6:00 p.m.
Where: City Hall (1211 Southmore)

Description: Come celebrate the 21st annual Circle of Trees and find out who this year’s winners will be. Each year, local civic, non-profit and volunteer organizations decorate trees that are displayed in City Hall throughout the holiday season. The community is invited to come by, enjoy the décor and vote on their favorites. This year, we even took the competition online -- pictures of each tree were posted on the City Facebook page for a special new contest. Facebook users could vote for their favorite by clicking the “like” button under a photo and, at the award ceremony, the organization that decorated the tree that had the most "likes" at the end of the voting period will win our new Facebook Favorite award. It will be presented with all of the other competition’s awards at this award ceremony and mixer.
