On Saturday, November 12th the La Porte Parks & Recreation Department, working with the La Porte Independent School District, hosted the Area 22 Special Olympics Volleyball Competition in La Porte, TX.  

The event was held at the La Porte Recreation & Fitness Center gym and the La Porte High School gym.  Tournament games started at 9 am and ended at 5 pm.  The surrounding cities that participated were Texas City, Fort Bend, and Friendswood.  The competition went really well and there were a lot of fans in the audience for support for the La Porte Bulldogs.

The 1st place went to the La Porte Bulldogs White team who consisted of Douglas Hershberger, Marie Luna, Lynelle Kirk, Josh Burton, Marcos Rocha, Lori Hines, Johnny Sanchez, and Erik Busbee.  The La Porte Bulldogs Blue team placed 4th.  Players were Jon Brekke, Kascius Cartright, James Flutka, Morgan Fortner, Michael Kirbach, John Nesvadba, Chris Robinson, Dennis Rodriguez, Kierra Sims, and Josh Zech.

La Porte Parks & Recreation and the La Porte Independent School District is very proud to have hosted the games. We would like to thank all of the parents, volunteers and fans that came out to assist and watch the volleyball competition.
