CHRISTMAS ON MAIN STREET SET FOR DECEMBER 1
La Porte, Texas — One of La Porte’s most well loved events, Christmas on Main Street, is scheduled this year for Thursday, December 1 from 5 to 8 p.m. Activities will include a tubing hill, a visit from Clutch the Rockets Bear, vendors, and entertainment from La Porte’s favorite music and performing groups. The festivities will officially begin with the parade at 5:30 p.m., and entertainment will start at 6 p.m.
The annual event, now in its 24th year, is a favorite for all of the Bay Area communities. This year will feature holiday favorites, including free pictures of the kids with Santa and Mrs. Claus at Five Points Plaza, generously sponsored by Heartsong Photography. More than 50 vendors will be selling everything from arts and crafts to food to Christmas gift items. Clutch the Rockets Bear will sign autographs from 6 – 8 p.m., and he will be touring the street with Frosty the Snowman and Rudolph, and will help Santa and the Mayor light the tree at Five Points Plaza at 8 p.m. This year’s entertainment lineup will include choirs, orchestras and bands from LPISD schools on Main Street stages, and other performers at Five Points Plaza. The event organizers acknowledge the generous sponsorship of Beacon Federal Credit Union and Shell Federal Credit Union for helping to make it a great event.
Last year the City brought in a tubing hill that was a huge hit, and they will be bringing it back again for this year’s celebration. The hill will be covered with snow, and will be located just off of Main Street on North 1st Street. Children and adults of all ages will have the opportunity to slide from 6 – 8 p.m. It is provided by 4P Entertainment Group, Inc. out of Durango, Colorado.
