News Release
Wednesday, November 23, 2011

Charges have been filed against a suspect arrested in a fatal traffic accident on North State Highway 6 at Pine Forest about 8:05 a.m. last Sunday (Nov. 20).

The suspect, Eric Quiroz (H/m, DOB: 6-24-91), is charged with two counts of intoxication manslaughter in the 208th State District Court.

Since he remains hospitalized, a photo of suspect Quiroz is not available for release at this time.

The identities of the two deceased victims are pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant K. Shaw and Officer E. Rubio reported:

Quiroz was driving a black Chevrolet Monte Carlo south on State Highway 6 and a white Honda Accord was traveling east on Pine Forest.  The Accord entered the intersection and was struck by the Monte Carlo, which continued into the northbound lanes of State Highway 6 and struck a third vehicle, a white Nissan Sentra.

The driver of the Accord died at the scene and the passenger in the Monte Carlo died at an area hospital.  Quiroz was transported to Ben Taub General Hospital where he is being treated for his injuries.  Persons inside the Sentra were treated at an area hospital for minor injuries.

Further investigation determined Quiroz was at fault in this accident and he was subsequently charged.
