March Primary Elections Filing Begins
by Garrett Bryce
Monday, November 28, 2011

Filing in the March 2012 Primary Election began today, opening county, state and federal positions to candidates seeking party nominations.

Candidates can file with their local political party offices for a place on the ballot through December 15.  However, some positions on the ballot may be impacted by the redistricting process.  Challenges have arisen to redistricting plans in Galveston County, as well as for the state.

County positions on the ballot this year include Commissioner Precincts No. 1 and No. 3, County Sheriff, County Attorney, Tax-Assessor-Collector, Justices of the Peace with Place 1 designations, and Constable.  List of Offices Up for Election in 2012

Those seeking to file as candidates for the primary election should contact their county’s political party organization.
