by Garrett Bryce
Wednesday, November 30, 2011
The College of the Mainland Board of Trustees today voted to give Board Chair Ralph Holm full authority to negotiate and execute a contract with Dr. Larry Durrence for the position of interim president.
It was announced that Dr. Durrence, previous COM interim president, will begin his interim tenure January 3, 2012. Specifics of the contract are still in negotiation.
The board voted to approve a motion to provide additional compensation to Dr. Amy Locklear for the period that she is serving as acting president. Locklear was named acting president during the November 15 special meeting of the board.
Previous College President Dr. Michael Elam resigned effective November 15, following several executive session meetings held by the board to discuss his contract with the college.
No other action was taken. Trustee Roney McCrary was absent.
