Minor traffic accident occurs with GISD bus and car, no injuries reported

No students on board at the time of the accident, EMS not called to the scene

GALVESTON, Texas – A Galveston Independent School District bus was involved in a minor accident with a passenger vehicle this afternoon. At approximately 3:55 p.m., a bus headed to Central Middle School struck the front bumper of a car, causing minimal damage. No students were aboard the bus at the time of the accident.

The GISD bus attempted to maneuver around a legally parked car as it travelled northbound on 29th Street, approaching Avenue K. The back right bumper of GISD bus clipped the front left bumper of the car parked legally on the right hand side of the street. Emergency medical services did not respond to the scene as none of those involved in the accident reported injuries, including the bus driver or the two persons in the other vehicle.

A replacement bus was sent to Central Middle School to pick-up and drop-off students while the Galveston ISD police department conducted an investigation at the crash scene.
