Evriklia Louis StathakosEvriklia Louis Stathakos passed away peacefully on December 9, 2011, at the age of 89.  Evriklia was known by many nicknames that included Mrs. Louie, Thea, Mom and YiaYia, the name used by her beloved grandchildren and most recently adopted by her caretakers at Parkway Place.

Born in Paleopanagia, Greece, in December 1922, to Constantine and Catherine Sarantakos, Evriklia married Louis Stathakos in 1950 and moved to Galveston, Texas, where she resided for many years.

Evriklia spent her years engaged in the life of a traditional Greek woman as a loving and devoted wife, mother and homemaker who enjoyed her home, family, grandchildren, relatives, church and community.  She is preceded in death by husband, Louis P. Stathakos; grandson, Nicholas Stathakos; and brother and sister-in-law, George and Panagiota Sarantakos.  Survivors include son, Pete Stathakos, and his daughter and son-in-law, Michaelina and John Neiser; daughter and beloved son-in-law, Cathy and Emanuel Stamatakis, and their children, Christina, Demetri and Eleni Stamatakis; brother and sister-in-law, Panagioti and Panagiota Sarantakos; Barbara Stathakos and family; and numerous and beloved nieces and nephews from both the Sarantakos and Stathakos families residing in Greece and the United States.

Evriklia and her family sincerely appreciate the care provided her by the dedicated caregivers at Parkway Place in Houston, Texas.

Services will be held Thursday, December 15, 2011, in Galveston, Texas.  Visitation is at Malloy & Son Funeral Home 10:00 to 10:45 followed by funeral services at 11:00 at Assumption of the Virgin Mary Greek Orthodox Church.
