Friendswood ISD Board of Trustees
by Garrett Bryce
Tuesday, December 13, 2011

The Friendswood Independent School District Board of Trustees on Monday voted 4-0-1, with Rebecca Hillenburg abstaining, to continue with the board’s current officers, with Hillenburg as president of the board, Tony Hopkins as vice president and Robert McCabe as secretary.

The members will serve terms as officers that expire following the November 2012 election.

The school board voted unanimously to eliminate bus routes across attendance zones to day care facilities.

The board had considered the elimination of the special bus routes in the spring, but maintained the routes pending further discussion in the fall.  The cost to maintain the routes that cross attendance boundaries to transport children to day care facilities totals $27,000 per year.

The school board voted unanimously to approve the Texas Association of School Boards Police Update 91, which addresses various policies at the district to conform to changes made during the state’s 82nd Legislative session.

All other items were approved by unanimous vote.  Trustee Tony Hopkins was absent, and Robert McCabe was not present for the vote on several items.  Agenda
