Pearland City Council on Monday voted unanimously to order a special runoff election on January 14 for Council Position No. 5.
The runoff will be between candidates Greg Hill and Kevin Cole, who received the top votes in a three-person race on December 3, but with neither securing a majority.
The winner of the race will fill an unexpired term currently held by Council Member Ed Thompson.
The city council voted unanimously to award a $75,500 contract to Montgomery & Barnes, Inc. for engineering design services associated with the Cowart’s Creek Pump Station.
The contract was initially with JKC Engineering, which had informed the city that the company was no longer in business and could not complete its work on the contract, according to Project Director Trent Epperson.
The city council voted unanimously to award a $101,446 contract to Landscape Images of Texas for grounds maintenance services.
The city council voted unanimously to award a $154,895 contract to ComTech Communications, Inc. for the purchase and installation of a fire and EMS station alert system.
The city council took no action regarding appointments to the city’s various boards and commissions. The item was discussed during an executive session held during a special meeting.
