The Salvation Army receives Fourth Gold Coin of the season
Houston – Just days before Christmas Eve, last night, The Salvation Army Greater Houston Area Command received the Fourth Gold Coin of the season, at a donation site located at 1505 Wirt Rd, Houston, TX 77055 in Spring Branch.
The one ounce Krugerrand gold coin was discovered outside of a local Kroger, and is estimated to have a value of $1,800. The Gold Coin was wrapped inside of a one dollar bill with an accompanying note that read “A child is born, Jesus!”
Two other one ounce gold coins were received in this same manner, wrapped within a piece of paper with this message, wrapped inside of a dollar bill, and dropped into a red kettle by an anonymous donor(s). A third gold coin was donated to The Salvation Army by local company, Houston Gold.
All proceeds raised by The Salvation Army’s Red Kettle Campaign are utilized to operate the nonprofit organization’s programs and services across Harris, Fort Bend and Montgomery counties, at 18 area facilities, including the organization’s Christmas Assistance program, which this year has registered 30,000 children and seniors.
