Filing continues through Monday for national, state and local offices in the 2012 Primary Elections, due to an extension of the filing date by a federal court.
The United States District Court for the Western District of Texas on Tuesday issued an order extending the deadline, which had been set for today, to December 19. The order also allows any filing fees paid by candidates, which are not typically refundable under state law, to be refundable to candidates who withdraw their applications. Order
The court also will reopen the filing period at a later date for applications to be filed, amended or withdrawn.
The extensions come due to issues with state and county redistricting plans, which have been under debate in court.
