Benefit fund established to aid injured PPD motorcycle officer

The Pasadena Police Officer's Union (PPOU) has announced the establishment of a benefit account for Sgt. Matt Novotny, 52. He was seriously injured on December 12 while escorting a funeral procession. Novotny was taken by Life-Flight from the scene of the accident at Almeda Road at West Fuqua to Memorial Hermann Hospital-The Texas Medical Center where he is currently receiving care. His condition has stabilized and while his injuries are no longer considered life-threatening, he faces significant medical procedures to address the serious and extensive injuries he suffered in the accident. Novotny is a 32-year veteran of the Pasadena Police Department and serves as the head of the department's motorcycle division.

The PPOU has arranged to accept monetary donations of any amount to an Amegy Bank account for Sgt. Novotny. Payment can be made to BENEFIT ACCOUNT FOR MATT NOVOTNY and any Amegy Bank employee may accept it; no account number is needed. Alternately, you may send a check to PPOU at PO Box 766, Pasadena TX 77501 or drop a check off with Officer Pat Miller at PPD. All proceeds will be provided to the Novotny family to help defray the significant medical costs associated with his medical care and rehabilitation.
