Judges Needed for 51st Annual CCISD Science Fair

Plans are underway for the 51st annual CCISD Science Fair to be held Monday, January 23, 2012 from noon until about 5:00.  With more than 800 projects qualifying for the District Fair, almost 200 judges are needed.

Each year, every campus holds a Science fairs within the Clear Creek Independent School District, with approximately 8,000 students participating.  The District Science Fair brings together the best of the projects from each of the school fairs.

Awards are given in 4th grade division, 5th grade division, junior division (grades 7 – 8), 9th grade division, senior division (grades 10 – 12), and team divisions (grades 7-8, grade 9, and senior).  Clear Creek ISD’s science fair is one of the most extensive in the state, and students consistently take top honors at the Houston (regional), state, and international   science fairs.  Much success can be attributed to the quality of judges at the district fair.

Volunteer professionals from the local community conduct judging for the district science fair.  At the secondary level, judges conduct interviews with each student to determine winners.  If you are interested in serving as a judge, please register online at https://www2.ccisd.net/Departments/CurriculumInstruction/Science/CCISDScienceFair/ScienceFairJudges/judgeregistration.aspx  or contact Rose Swafford (281-284-7323 or rswafford@ccisd.net) and put the date on your calendar.  Additional information about the fair is available at www.ccisd.net .

CCISD is extremely grateful to the industries and businesses which so graciously allow employees to assist in the judging. Elementary categories include life sciences, physical sciences, consumer sciences, earth/space sciences, and mathematics.  Secondary categories include Animal Science, Behavioral /Social Science, Biochemistry/Microbiology, Chemistry, Computers, Earth/Space Science, Energy and Transportation, Engineering, Environmental Science, Mathematics, Medicine and Health, Physics, and Plant Science.
