by Jim Guidry
Tuesday, December 20, 2011

Former Congressman Nick Lampson is running unopposed for the Democratic Primary in District 14, which currently is held by Ron Paul, who is not seeking reelection.

In an interview with Guidry News Service, Lampson noted that the district has been redrawn to resemble the district that he previously served. Listen: MP3 RealPlayer

“I loved doing what I was doing; I thought I was able to make a difference in the Congress,” Lampson said.  “I thought it was important that I was able to create bi-partisan caucuses that tried to pull Democrats and Republicans to work together.  I think that is probably the most critical issue that is facing our country today.”

Lampson has no opponents in the Democratic primary.  Seven candidates have filed to run as Republicans in the primary.  The Republicans are Tim Day, John Gay, Robert Gonzalez, George Harper, Felicia Harris, Mark Mansius, Jay Old, Bill Sargent, Michael Truncale and Randy Weber.
