George W. Ryals
Fields-Johnson Family Mortuary

George W. RyalsGeorge W. Ryals, 91, received his reward of eternal rest on Monday, December 19, 2011, at Silsbee Oaks Healthcare Center.

George was born June 22, 1920 to the late Warren and Eliza Collier Ryals in Call Junction, TX. He moved to Beaumont, Texas at an early age and attended the public schools in Beaumont.

Mr. Ryals enlisted in the military, serving during World War II and was honorable discharged. He was member of Mt Calvary Baptist Church. He worked for the National Bedding Company and Rosenthal Furniture for many years. He left the company to work with his friend and coworker, the late Norris Turner until his retirement. Mr. Ryals also worked for the Johnny Frank Pie Company at night. Later he worked for the Mt. Calvary Baptist Church as a custodian.

Mr. Ryals took pride in raising his children and grandchildren.

Mr. Ryals was preceded in death by his wife, Nora Dell Coleman Ryals; daughters, Deborah Ann Ryals and Ira Dell Ryals Briggs; grandson, Walter Morris, Jr., and granddaughter, La Kristen Devore Johnson.

Left to mourn his death are his children: Earnestine Jo Helen Blue of Beaumont, Yvonne Carnes (John) of Vallejo , CA, George Wayne (Joyce), Marva Lynn Walkerboth of Houston, TX, Martha Ann Williams of Oakland, CA, Rosa Pearl Rhoades of Houston, TX, Don Alfred (Angela) of Beaumont, and Bridgette Devore Johnson ( Rev. Eddie) of Galveston, TX; adorable sister: Elmer “Lady“ Larry; brother-in-law: Augustine Coleman, Jr.; 20 grandchildren, 46 great-grandchildren, 13 great-great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Viewing will begin at 9 AM on Saturday, December 24, 2011, followed by a service celebrating his life at 11:00AM at Mt Calvary Baptist Church with Pastor Oveal Walker III officiating. Burial will follow at Sacred Heart Cemetery. Service arrangements are entrusted to Fields- Johnson Family Mortuary 3828 Avenue O, Galveston, Texas 77550. (409) 762-8470
