University of Houston-Clear Lake Assistant Professor of Early Childhood Education Donna Kirkwood (l) and Assistant Professor of Special Education Elizabeth Beavers (r) are ready for the new year. The two received a shipment of children’s furniture to outfit the brand new early childhood education model classroom.
Located in the Arbor building, the classroom will provide an authentic classroom environment for early childhood education teacher candidates and will serve both early childhood and special education classes. In addition, the classroom will be utilized for community outreach programs. The School of Education recently expanded its degree offerings to include a Bachelor of Applied Science in Early Childhood Education. The degree focuses on young children birth through age 5 and is designed for teachers, directors and other professionals in child care where teacher certification is not required.
